Life Reflections of
Spencer Scott III
Spencer Scott III was born to Spencer Scott Sr. and Willie Norfleet-Scott on February 19, 1944 in Marion, Alabama. He attended Hopewell grade school and continued his education at Lincoln High School. He was one of twelve children.
Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Scott Sr. and Willie Norfleet-Scott, and two of his siblings, Diane Scott and Eugene Scott. Spencer was baptized at an early age at Oak Grove Methodist Church in Newbern, AL.
Spencer married Lois Jones on October 21, 1966. This union was blessed with two children, Spencer Scott IV and Cheryl Denise. Spencer was a loving and devoted father to his children.
Spencer worked for Mobile Tile Company until his accident in October, 1974. Although this accident altered his life physically, he still had a sincere love for life. He battled many ups and downs yet, he championed them all. He had a laugh that was contagious. He’d begin to tell a story and laugh so hard, he’d laugh himself out of breath. He loved playing cards and checkers. He would sit for hours playing solitaire. He never asked for much yet, he gave so much joy to so many.
Spencer loved his family and would look forward to his annual trip to Marion, Alabama. He loved talking about family and the many escapades he’d been a part of throughout the years. He was a gentle giant who lived and loved life to the fullest. He had a smile that would light up any room. He loved listening to Johnny Taylor and Joe Simon. When the music was really good to him, he’d yell out “get on the good foot”.
Spencer quietly departed this life on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Covington Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Spencer leaves to cherish his memory his children, Spencer Scott IV (Anitra), Cheryl Denise (Keith), Sherrice Vershaun. Spencer leaves 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Doris Moore (Douglas), Louvenia Bates (Mitchell), Corrine Scott, William Scott (Beatrice), Helen Green (Harrison), Pearl Nevels (Samuel), Estella Scott, Terry Scott, and Ricky Scott (Donna), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
