Vianna (Jackson) Sims
We regretfully announce the passing of Mrs. Vianna Jackson - Sims, on April 30, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Vianna was with her daughter when she passed away peacefully.
Vianna was born on March 24, 1938 to Charles Moorman and Letha (Lois) Roston in Dublin, Georgia. She later relocated with her mother to Fort Wayne, Indiana where she graduated from Central High School in 1955.
In 1955, she married Richard Jackson and together they went on to have seven children. Vianna was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.
She worked for several companies including Phelps Dodge, Lincoln National Life, The Sheriff’s Department, and the Fort Wayne Urban League.
Vianna was preceded by her parents, Charles Moorman and Letha (Lois) Roston and stepfather, Jimmie Roston; former husbands, Richard Jackson and Howard Sims; daughter, Janice Bush; son, Maurice Jackson and grandchildren, Abdul Jerome Jermaine Jackson Sr, Anthony Jackson Golden, Ryan Dillworth and Robert Bush Jr.
Vianna leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Barry Jackson and wife Martha, Giselle Jackson, Edward Jackson, Marion Maxwell and Tasha Jackson-Booth and husband Victor Booth; sister, Martha Johnson and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As Ms. Vi was an advocate for civil rights and social justice, please consider a donation in Vianna’s name to one of the following organizations: NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund; Thurgood Marshall College Fund or Campaign Zero.
A walk through visitation will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 and is open to the public at Oakridge Temple C.O.C.I.G. located at 2802 Evans Street in Fort Wayne, IN.
Masks and social distancing will be required.
