Walter “Tony” Johnson was born on September 13, 1967 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to the late Walter and Dorothy Johnson. Walter was called home to be with the Lord on April 20, 2020. Walter confessed his life to Christ and was baptized at 11 years of age.
Walter was a truck driver at Hoover the Mover, and was employed there for 15 years. He was a graduate of Northrop High School.
Tony as he was known by many loved music, especially the 70’s and 80’s. He also loved to read. Tony was a gentle, kind and loving soul. He was passionate about his family and friends. Tony also was willing to give to anyone in need. He stood out in a crowd because of his generosity and patience with others.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Dorothy Johnson, also a brother, David Johnson.
He is survived by his loving siblings, Jeffrey (Nichelle) Johnson, Takisha Bennett, Kimball (Lou-Ann) Black and Theodore Smith; his nieces, Corene Johnson, Ayana Weaver, NaTalya Bennett, Kimberly Reynolds and Jessica Burnett; his nephews, Marquese Johnson, Kimball Black Jr., Darnell Hairston and Andre Hairston.
He will be laid to rest in Highland Park Cemetery
