William Arthur Scott, Sr. age 74, was born March 3, 1947 to the late Spencer Scott, Sr. and Willie Norfleet Scott in Marion, Alabama. William was one of twelve children. William transitioned home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 4:30 am surrounded by his family.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Willie Norfleet Scott; brothers, Eugene Scott and Spencer Scott, Jr.; sister, Diane Scott; sons-in-law, Herman White and Reginald Starks; in-laws, Lucious Childs, Hattie Moore and Georgianna Childs; sister and brothers-in-law; Willie Edwards, Lucious Childs, Jr., Jim Patrick, Sr., Dock Mims, Claude Brown, Nathan Childs, Hattie Simmons, Virginia Childs, Clara Childs.
William married Beatrice Scott on April 29, 1968, unto this union four children was born, Connie, Tracey, William, and Cassandra. William confessed Christ at an early age. In 1976, he moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. He later joined Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Frederick Latham. He later moved his membership and became a member of Grace United Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Guy Willis.
William retired after 30 years of dedicated service from National Serv-All. In addition to, he retired after 20 years of service in 2020 from ROBCO Construction Company. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to blues, watching western, wrestling, fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
William leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Beatrice Scott; four children, Connie White, Tracey Scott-Starks, William Scott, Jr., Cassandra Scott all of Fort Wayne, IN; eleven (11) grandchildren, Ciara (Jalarrius) Hollis, Conneisha White, Jessica White, Porshia (Justin) Hollister, Jaqwail Scott, Sr., Kechenique White, Anestasha Scott, Hermanee White, Jason Scott, Andrian Scott, Jhordyn Jenkins, all of Fort Wayne, IN; fourteen (14) great grandchildren, Michael Moore Jr, Mycayla Moore, Brandon Staten, Danayzah Staten, Aalayah Staten, Kamya White, Shaiki Scott, Skylar Hollister, JayCion Hollis, Jaqwail Scott Jr, JaCari Hollis, Virshawn Lewis Jr, Harmonee White, and JaCir Hollis all of Fort Wayne, IN; one (1) great-great grandchild;,Kayonni Moore all of Fort Wayne, IN; six (6) sisters, Doris (Douglas) Moore of Birmingham, AL, Louvenia (Mitchell) Bates of Atlanta, GA, Corrine Scott of Fort Wayne, IN, Helen (Harrison) Green, Pearl (Samuel) Nevels, and Estella (Buddy) Knox all of Marion, AL; two (2) brothers, Terry Scott of Fort Wayne, IN and Richard (Donna) Scott or Atlanta, GA; brother and sister-n-laws; Barbara Patrick, Newbern, AL, Corean Arrington, Selma, AL, Henrietta Mims and Sallie Childs both of Fort Wayne, IN, Bettie Jean Childs, Detroit, MI, Dorothy (Curtis) Taylor, Dayton, OH, Mary Frances Walker, Birmingham, AL, Jessie McCrary, Mobile, AL, Sam (Anne) Walker, Detroit, MI, Roosevelt (Kimberly) Childs, Indianapolis, IN, Johnny Childs, Fort Wayne, IN and George Childs, Greensboro, AL; special nieces, Delois (Jack) Morgan and Deborah Norfleet of Fort Wayne, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, relatives and friends.
Graveside service to be held Friday, November 5, 2021 in Norfleet Cemetery in Newbern, Alabama.
