Yolanda Lynn McKinney, was born on August 5, 1968 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Eddie Fay Johnson and Lowell McKinney, Jr.Yolanda, lovingly known as Yodie, attended Northside High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and grew up at Wings of Deliverance Church with her family. Her role as a mother brought her immeasurable joy and purpose. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, guidance, and unwavering support.
With a career spanning over 25 years in the healthcare field, Yolanda dedicated 14 years of her life to Parkview Behavioral Health. Her commitment to improving the lives of others through her work touched the hearts of countless individuals. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Yolanda found happiness in her role as a loving grandmother to four grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them, engaging in activities like shopping, cooking, and creating arts and crafts. Her creative spirit and nurturing nature enriched the lives of her beloved grandchildren, leaving cherished memories that will forever be treasured.
Yolanda was called to take her rest on Monday, July 17, 2023, peacefully in her sleep. As we celebrate Yolanda's life and carry on her legacy, her heart was filled with boundless love for her two children, Alesia McKinney of Columbus, OH, and Jalan McKinney of Lincoln, NE.; her grandchildren, Jaysean McKinney, Jordon McKinney, Josiah McKinney, Jayden Smith and "soon to make her arrival", Serene McKinney; her sisters, Angela McKinney, Lincoln, NE and Latanya Buckhalter, Norfolk, VA; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends,
She was preceded in death by her parents Eddie Fay Lockett-Johnson and Lowell McKinney, Jr; her grandparents, Lowell McKinney Sr., Mary McKinney, Ernest Lockett, Johnnie Mae Lockett-Strack; her aunts, Bobbie Carson, Verma Jean Brown, Shirley Lockett, Diane Lockett and Ernestine Lockett; her great-uncle, Tom Jones, her great-aunts Ollie May Hughes and Delores Jones, her great-grandparents, Tony and Virginia Jones and cousin, Delilah McKinney.
