Mary Mudd affectionately known as "Tea" was born on October 22, 1934 in Perry County, Alabama. She was the daughter of late Annie and Johnnie Ayers. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the age of 82, at home with her family at her side
At a very young age she was baptized at the Macedonia Seventeenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
The family moved to Fort Wayne when she was 15 years old. Mary was a graduate Central High School Class of 1953.
She joined the St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Drinks and continued to serve faithfully under the late Rev. J.W. Bledsoe. Her untiring spirit continued also under the present leadership of Rev. F.A. Sleet until her health began to fail her. Over the years, Mary served as a member of the Senior Choir, Trustee Board and as church secretary.
Mary retired from St. Joseph Hospital after 40 years of service as a Respiratory Therapist. She loved Shopping and working in her yard.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Carolyn E. Rogers; a sister, Eliza Flowers; grandchildren, Darius and Chasity Ayers; 3 great-grandchildren, Lamont, Lamar and Lamir whom affectionately called her "Dear". Her nieces, Gwen Lynch, Walia Ayers; nephews, Michal (Dee) Ayers, Joseph Ayers and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Walter Ayers, a sister, Celester Ayers and nephews, Michael Ayers and Lamont Flowers.
